Is it best to book the hall first?
It is always better to book your first choice entertainer before you do anything else as there are always a large variety of venues in every area but a great entertainer will be in high demand and therefore booked up quickly.
What time will you arrive at the party?
It takes 15-20 minutes to set up the show but Barmy Bella the children's entertainer prefers to be with you 30 minutes before so that she can have a quick chat with the birthday child and put them at ease.
Will the magic show be suitable for all age groups?
The show is geared towards younger children aged 3 - 8 although Barmy Bella regularly performs at parties where there are children of mixed ages. Children under the age of 3 are always welcome to join in but please be aware that it can get quite overwhelming for the tiny ones and as an entertainer Bella likes everyone to have a fun magical time!.
How much notice do you require?
Barmy Bella can get booked up very quickly and is a very popular entertainer. Weekends tend to get booked up quite far in advance, sometimes as much as 3 months or more. As soon as you decide to have a party, give us a call. Even for short notice parties, it's worth calling as we do have the occasional cancellation. For Christmas parties, it is best to call as soon as you can as the week at the end of school term usually gets booked up 6 months in advance. If you really want to book Bella as your entertainer but find that she is already booked for the weekend of your party then why not book a mid-week after school party?
How long will you perform for at the party?
Parties are usually two hours long at the weekends, however Barmy Bella can provide an hour's show as well as the full 2 hour show on weekdays Monday to Friday.
How many children can I invite to the party?
You can have as many guests as you want, Bella does not charge per guest, although for birthday parties which include games, it is better to keep numbers below 40. If you are booking just the magic show, Barmy Bella prefers as many children to participate as possible.
Is there a minimum number of children required?
Barmy Bella recommends at least 12 children if possible to create a better atmosphere for the magic show. For parties at home any more than 8 is fine as long as the children are of similar age.
Can I have the party at home?
Yes, Barmy Bella is happy to bring her show to your home. The only thing she asks is that you clear as much space as possible for the children to participate in the entertainment and enjoy themselves.
How much space do you need?
Most church halls and function rooms are of a sufficient size for the magic show and party games and allow plenty of room for the children to run around. On the rare occasion when there is a huge space to fill Barmy Bella will section off a smaller area.
Are balloon animals provided for all the children?
All of the children will take home a balloon animal but please let Bella know if you are expecting more than 40 guests. Balloons are suitable for any age from 3 to 103 year olds. Please note balloons may be hazardous for children under 2 years old.
How should I pay?
Payment is made in cash on the day either at the start or end of the party, if you prefer to pay by cheque then please make it payable to T. Kimmons.
Do you provide party bags?
Yes, Barmy Bella can provide lovely party bags at £2 each and the good news is that you only pay for the amount you use. Please click here for more details.
Do you supply prizes for the games?
All of the games are non-elimination, this ensures that all of the children are involved and no one is left out. At the end of the party the children will be going home with a balloon animal and your provided party bag so they probably have more than enough to carry.
What areas do you cover?
Barmy Bella can travel to all parts of Derbyshire and South Yorkshire and occasionally Nottinghamshire.
Can I have a joint party?
Yes, joint parties are welcome as long as the children are of a similar age.
Do you bring a disco/music?
A full sound system is provided and is loud enough for even the largest of church halls.
Are you available for midweek parties?
Yes, midweek bookings are available, not just after school, but any time of the day.
Do you perform outdoors?
Given the correct conditions, yes. I will perfom on a flat surface and insist on all of the children being in the shade for the magic show and preferably with grass or rugs to sit on. I would also need to be close to an electrical socket with the aid of an extension lead. You should however have alternative arrangements and enough room inside in case of rain or windy weather conditions.
Do you play party games with the children?
Barmy Bella loves party games and all games are non-elimination to ensure that no children are left out. She will also lead lots of party dances and action songs.
Do you have live animals in the show?
Barmy Bella is a caring entertainer so sorry - but no. It can get very busy at weekends especially in the summer months and it would be unfair for any animal to have to entertain and endure the heat and conditions of a 10 hour day.
